Hi, I'm Charlie! Welcome to my writing portfolio. This is completely informal so none of it is officially published, but you can view events, zines, and other things I've done or participated in. Enjoy!

MODDING EXPERIENCE

I have participated in and modded zines since 2018--it's a hobby I enjoy! (Maybe a little too much...)On the left is a typical budget sheet that I use for zines. Not only does it showcase the income and expenses, but lets me balance it against the buying site (typically BigCartel) and the payment site (typically Stripe, PayPal, or both). This allows for both mods and contributors to track where money is coming in, when it's going out, what taxes or fees are taken, and how much things cost. Organisation is key! Here you can find a typical finance sheet that I use for zines. Alongside the budget sheet, it breaks down: manufacturers, the cost of manufacturing, bundle breakdowns, ordering checklists, and more.

Here are several examples of merchandise I have produced for the zine Behind the Scenes Vol. 1. A typical merch journey is like this...

  • Finalise merch concept, pricing, and bundles.

  • Receive concept art from artist.

  • Give to manufacturer, review any edits.

  • Pay for sample product and any fees.

  • Receive prototype.

  • If the prototype is acceptable, continue with production. Review if not.

  • Pay for bulk merchandise production.

  • Receive merchandise and send out.

The process can take up to a year due to zines being pre-order only. This is so that the purchasing money can be recycled into the project and then given to charity or split among contributors. This makes sure everyone's happy!
